A minor earthquake was recorded Thursday evening west of Kilauea Volcano’s summit.
The magnitude-3.0 temblor struck at 7:46 p.m. about 8.5 miles west of the summit area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It had a registered depth of just under 18 miles.
The earthquake did not prompt a Pacific Tsunami Warning Center advisory.
